The UPA Mission

The United States Professional Poolplayers Association (UPA) is The Governing Body of Men’s Professional Pool in the United States. The association is based in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. Founded in 2002, the UPA is the collective effort of male professionals governing themselves within the Billiard Industry. The UPA is comprised of the best pool players from all around the world and works in conjunction with all Governing Bodies within the industry. The UPA is the first association to allow both foreign and domestic players to join in one unified voice to better move the sport of pocket billiards forward in the U.S. and even the world.
The UPA serves as the governing body for the sport of men’s professional pool in the US in conjunction with the Billiard Congress of America and the World Pool Association. Our mission is:
- To elevate the standards of the professional pool player’s vocation
- To stimulate interest and involvement from major media companies
- To seek major advertisers and educate the general public
- To further the progress of the sport entering into the Olympics
- To continually promote the overall vitality of the sport

Current UPA Touring Professional members in good standing are sent quarterly bi-monthly Newsletters and tournament information. UPA Touring Professional members are also given the right to vote on tour Rules and may play in UPA sanctioned events and series events.
Volunteers are the heart and soul of the UPA and the sport of Ultimate. Volunteer roles include Sectional, Regional and National Coordinators for all championship divisions, Committee Members and Chairs for the Standing Rules Committee, Formats Committee, a number of ad-hoc committees, technology support, special projects, Board of Directors, sponsorship and fundraising activities, and Event Directors. Over 23 years worth of player-organizers can be thanked for most everything that happens in the sport and the UPA.

To provide unsurpassed levels of leadership, guidance, and organization that will benefit professional pool players in the United States through a published schedule of events complete with tournament promotion, guaranteed prize funds, and a fair and uniform ranking system.
