The United States Professional Poolplayers Association (UPA) is the governing body of Men’s Professional and a leading sponsor of amateur pool leagues throughout the United States. Founded in 2002, the UPA is an Arizona based corporation whose mission is to further promote and shine the media spotlight on the sport of pocket billiards. The UPA is the only professional organization in the United States and enjoys strong relationships throughout the entire billiard industry – from manufacturers to media as well as international associations.
Billiards is an extremely popular sport in the United States. With the housing boom earlier this decade more American households than ever have pool tables. In fact, 51 million Americans played pool last year making it the fourth participated in sports last year behind jogging, cycling, and bowling. The UPA believes, however, that professional pool has not yet reached its full media potential as it has around the world like Europe, South Korea, the Philippines and even China.
The UPA is the premier professional and amateur brand name in the billiard industry and it will take a lead role in growing all phases of the sport from amateur leagues to a televised tour. The UPA Board of Directors is always seeking the right partner(s) to help us realize our goals.
